Major Market Office Deals

In Northwest Georgia, we have a little bit different take on the office leasing market than most major metro areas. A 10,000 square foot office is very large, and rental rates seldom eclipse $30 per foot annually. Of course, size and rates increase as you near major metropolitan areas, but the recent announcement by Facebook and developer Jay Paul may underscore the chasm between tertiary and major markets.

Facebook announced on September 25th that they will be leasing all of the available office space in the 70 story tower Jay Paul is constructing in San Francisco, amounting to 436,000 square foot.  The rental rate is expected to be about $80 per foot, totaling $34,880,000.00 per year. The space will house some 3,000 employees and will relieve the commute issues of many of Facebook’s Menlo Park based employees.
